Professor Sharon Dawe

Sharon Dawe is a Professor in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University. She has been working as a researcher and clinician in the field of substance misuse and mental health for over 15 years beginning her clinical career at Odyssey House, Auckland, NZ. She then moved to the UK where she worked at the Maudsley Hospital, London, as a clinical psychologist in the drug dependence unit. Her PhD, completed at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, investigated the neural mechanisms involved in drug reward. She then went on to work at NDARC, UNSW, prior to her current position. Sharon’s research interests include the evaluation of treatments for people with substance misuse problems, in particular cue exposure, the neuropsychology of addictive behaviours and most recently the development and evaluation of the PUP program.

Dr Paul Harnett

Paul Harnett is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the university of Queensland. He has worked clinically and conducted research in the area of child protection since 1987. He spent many years working as a Clinical Psychologist in a specialist child protection team at the Maudsley Hospital in London. In Australia he has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in care and protection for the NSW Department of Community Services. His PhD, which he completed at Griffith University, evaluated the effectiveness of real-world dissemination of an early intervention program for the prevention of adolescent depression. He is currently interested in the evaluation of the PUP program with parents involved with child protection agencies. He is currently completing a pilot study evaluating PUP with families involved with child protection agencies. In addition to evaluating the impact of the PUP program on this client group, he is interested in evaluation a procedure for the assessment of potential to change to assist in decision-making and treatment planning.
