Parents Under Pressure

Module 4: How to under pressure

The aim of Module 4 of the Parents Under Pressure program is to teach and encourage the use of emotional regulation, positive thinking, and self-soothing skills.

Strategies contained in this module will help the parent to balance the demands of being a parent with their own needs. The skills can be applied in developing closer relationships with others, becoming less reactive to problems involving their child or infant and generally promoting a sense of well-being.

The module includes traditional cognitive behavioural techniques to promote emotional regulation skills. The module has also includes mindfulness and distress tolerance techniques that have been found to be useful for highly distressed individuals (see Linehan, 1993).
