Parents Under Pressure

Module 10: Relationships

Problems in intimate relationships are common in multi-problem families. Histories of trauma, domestic violence and poor communication styles all impact on adult relationships. In Module 10 of the Parents Under Pressure program difficulties in relationships are identified and when current addressed through the use of couple communication and conflict resolution strategies.

Multi-problem families are often single parent households or households where children may be unrelated to their parent’s current partner. In these instances, there maybe a lack of clarity in the role the partner plays within the context of the family. When this is the case we make particular efforts to engage the partner in the intervention to clarify their role in the upbringing of the children in the family.
